Thaw

Sun rays warming cold stone walls
Days becoming longer, set the clocks ahead
Snowbanks disappearing, dingy piles left
Gutters full and flowing, Spring will be awhile
Icicles on eaves dripping, plop, plop, plop
I sit behind the window, counting every drop

This winter was a long one, harsher than the rest
Biting winds and snowfalls, record breaking temps
Snowbirds extend vacations, remaining in the south
Icicles on eaves dripping, plop, plop, plop
I sit behind the window, counting every drop

Take Heart in New Beginnings

[ edit poem ]
Do Not Weep For Days Ending

Twilight wraps the day in serenity
and washes it with gray
It tucks the daylight into bed
Wraps every ray in violet
Pulls the shades upon this day
Closes the door and sneaks away
Turns out the light across the land
Ignites the stars to guide our hand
Tis the moons time to glow
Creeping from behind the clouds
Soft lighting for the word
Do not weep for days ending
Take heart in new beginnings

Braille Upon My Heart

You wrote your painful messages in braille upon my heart
Upon first glace at me there is no apparent scar

I’m thankful you didn’t find it necessary to tattoo upon my skin
Do not tresspass. This heart has been condemned

You trampled, trashed, laid waste to what remained of me
Upon completion of your destruction, you locked the door
upon my heart and took with you the key
