Taste of Honey

When you found me I was buoyed by your attention

I floated above you, light as air, a kite

You held the string, pulled me close then set me free

I floated gaily, happy to soar within your grasp

Eventually you released my string, wind carried me far away

I floated in the deep blue sea of your eyes

Bobbed on the waves of your dreams

I swirled in the currents of many moods

Fought hard to keep my head above the waves

Swam constantly toward shore

The breath we shared in passion, inhaled and exhaled

Mouths pressed together, lip to lip, caressing tongues

The same mouth you use to lie to me

Stories rolling easily off of that tongue that

No longer tastes of honey
